Chief Scientist LIFTER

Sowers Headshot

Chief Scientist LIFTER:

Tricia Sowers is a scientist on a journey to merge personal passions with positive
outcomes for the global community. She is excited to be part of the LIFT team
and looks forward to LIFTING your organization.

Dr. Sowers received her PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from The University of
Texas at Austin. She began her career as a bench research scientist with MD
Anderson Cancer Center, publishing ground-breaking mechanistic studies
detailing the link between energy balance (obesity and caloric restriction) and
cancer. Dr. Sowers received numerous awards for her academic contributions.
She was well on her way to tenure at The University of Texas when she realized
a need for less mouse and more human interaction. She followed the
inflammation pathway to the pharmaceutical industry – pursuing both bench and
clinical research opportunities in the field of allergy and immunology.

Dr. Sowers served as a lead research scientist in the US-based, allergen
research lab at ALK, a global, allergy-focused pharmaceutical company. Her
research made significant contributions to the bench-based understanding of
allergen extracts and their use in both human and veterinary allergy
immunotherapy. Her abilities to analyze and translate scientific data to
commercial and clinical strategy prompted a transition from bench science to
Medical and Scientific Affairs, where she spearheaded a team of PhDs and MDs.

Dr. Sowers presently serves as a clinical and scientific consultant for allergy
specialists, a lecturer, an educator, and a scientific/clinical strategist. With more
than a decade in the field of Allergy and Immunology, Dr. Sowers has built an
extensive network of allergy-related Key Opinion Leaders and is considered a
subject matter expert among her peers.
